Too nutty even for the GOP

Even the craziest of the crazy-right Republican candidates can't stomach the Ron Paul "tear it all down and don't replace it" approach to life.

The photo in this article shows Gingrich with his patented "I'm way, way off my meds," grin, watching Paul make a fool of himself again. Takes one to know one, I guess.

2011 05 26: Quick update -- it looks as though we came off the Prednisone too soon. My GVHD rash came back, along with some other symptoms of my cells (now vastly outnumbered -- you'd think they'd know when to quit) duking it out with the donor cells. Back on the steroids and some other increases in dosage, and things seem to be improving. The simple truth seems to be, this is going to be a long war.

2011 05 ??: I have been somewhat disabled this week -- stomach issues, I won't go into it -- plus an on-going lack of energy, probably attributable to the tapering described below. But on the positive side, no one has offered to paint my toenails neon pink nor is Donald Trump questioning my US nationality. So on balance, I guess things are ok.

2011 02 23: The word for the month is "tapering," as in tapering off the steroids. This has its good aspects and otherwise. It does cut down on the side effects (swollen feet, for example) but one of those side effects is perkiness, and as we back off on the dosage, I get less perky. Hard to get out of bed in the morning, hard to be enthusiastic about doing things, hard to see why I should do anything more energetic than sit on the couch with the dog (and what's wrong with that?) Anyway, that's the executive summary.

2011 01 29: I see that I haven't updated this side of the blog for a month. We continue to taper off the steroids, and the most visibly annoying symptom now is swollen feet and things related thereto. In case you're eating while reading this, I won't go into too much detail, but think Vietnam-era Tiger-stripe camouflage, rendered in red, pink, and black. Yep, that's what my right foot and ankle look like. Aren't you sorry you read that last sentence?
